Welcome to Fårö local heritage association!
Fårö local heritage association runs two museums on Fårö and publishes books about Fårö.
We also manage and preserve a few historical buildings on Fårö. These are Nanten's windmill, the house were Nanten lived his life as miller, the pilot´s cabin and Jauvika fisherman's cottage at Lauter harbour.
Fårö Museum is our museum of social history where we show cultural items and tell stories from Fårö in various exhibitions. Fårö museum is located in the same building as Bergmancenter. There is more information in Swedish on the page Fårö Museum.
Sjöräddningsmuseet is our second museum located at Ekeviken. Here we show the boat "Skärsände" and tell stories of risky rescue operations. In the stormy waters of Salvorev, a reef north of Fårö, a lot of ships have been wrecked over the years. See more in the menu "Sjöräddningsmuseet".
We are also a publisher of books about Fårö. They are listed and availabale for order here. The books are also sold in Fårö Museum in the summertime.
We also offer various activities during the summertime such as walking tours, both in the nature and with cultural themes. Different types of lectures are also on the summer agenda. Ask at the museum reception!
